Fun August Activities for Kids

We have lots of activities for you to try as we enjoy the last month of summer and the fun of family time!


From arts and crafts, book recommendations, read-aloud stories, to summer adventures, and preschool activities through play.

August 1st

The activity we're doing today is excellent for preschoolers because it helps them learn basic shapes and improves their fine motor skills.

Today’s read-aloud story is The Watermelon Seed by Greg Pizzoli - this crocodile has a problem: he loves watermelon, but he’s afraid of what will happen if he eats one of the seeds…


August 3rd

Get some fun colored chalk for your kids and you can create some really fun chalk murals and designs. Here are a few cool designs for inspiration.


August 4th

Take your kids out for a fun bike ride, either near your house, or if the kids are older, take them on a bike trail. Since it’s a hot summer day, make sure to bring water!


August 5th

Math can be fun and delicious! Can you count how many chocolate chips are in each cookie? This is a great activity you can do at home during snack time using crackers, berries, or any kind of treat!



August 6th

Jump, sing, dance, and have fun! Today's activity incorporates yoga and music to boost body awareness and mindfulness.


August 7th

Monique Gray Smith, a celebrated author and international speaker, wrote My Heart Fills with Happiness to support the wellbeing of Indigenous families and children and to inspire young children to explore what brings them joy.
