HIPPY Home Visitors

Empowering parents to prepare their children for success.

HIPPY Home Visitors are parents who have completed the program and now use their experience to guide and support other families. As peer mentors, they help parents feel confident teaching their children and preparing them for school success.

Through this role, Home Visitors:

Build a Canadian work history and develop their professional resumes
Strengthen their English language and literacy skills
Earn a living wage in their first job in Canada
Gain digital and communication skills through online meetings and training
Give back to their community by helping other parents succeed

Each Home Visitor represents the heart of HIPPY Halton, parents empowering parents, building confidence, and creating stronger communities.

Finding and joining the HIPPY Program as a parent was a game-changer because the program includes everything you need to help your child thrive: wonderful books to read together, simple, age-appropriate activities that develop necessary skills, and easy-to-follow guidance for parents.

I am honored to have an opportunity to be a Home Visitor and to support other parents on this journey of raising happy and successful kids.

We provide ongoing school and settlement support, create and gather community resources and provide socializing opportunities for newcomer families in Halton.

In September, I joined the HIPPY team as a home visitor, marking my first job in Canada. This role allowed me to pay forward the lessons learned as a program participant.
