Creativity and problem solving

Some of the most important skills we need to encourage and develop in our children include thinking, predicting, imagining and creating. But how do we do this?

1. One of the best ways is through creative play and crafting!

June 8th is World Oceans Day - Make connections with your little one by talking to them about the importance of keeping our oceans clean and creating these adorable sea creatures out of found and recycled materials.

Extension idea! Expand their learning by asking questions and talking about things that relate to this craft, like; sunrise and sunsets, opposites – day and night, weather – sunny, cloudy, rainy...

2. Go on a photo scavenger hunt!

Explore your neighbourhood and take pictures on your phone as you go. What did you find?

At the end of the day, go through them together and ask for opinions about what you saw and did together. Did they notice anything you might have missed?

3. Get moving!

Construct a simple obstacle course together in the house or make a more complicated version outside in the backyard or at the park.

See if you can make it more interesting by adding an extra time challenge or making it a race!
