Why Do We Need HIPPY?
Research shows that children who lag at school entry seldom if ever, catch up to their peers and are at risk of dropping out of high school.
•HIPPY Home Visitors pay weekly visits to parents in their own homes and use role play to teach the week’s activities which are based on children’s literature.
• Mothers teach their children the 5 days of activities of the pre-reading, pre-writing, and pre-math skills they need for success in Kindergarten and beyond.
• At each visit, Home Visitor reviews work and use role play to teach the following week’s curriculum
•Bi-weekly Group Meetings offer speakers on parenting topics, a peer group for parents and a preschool experience for their children.
