  • Free materials – children’s books, activity packets, and supplies

  • Group meetings to develop parenting skills and build families’ network as they listen to speakers discuss needs and interests.

  • Children participate in a pre-school group and learn social skills and expectations

  • HIPPY is an evidence-based international program which operates in 10 countries. HIPPY Canada is based in Vancouver and oversees the 18 independent Canadian sites

Why Do We Need HIPPY?

Research shows that children who lag at school entry seldom if ever, catch up to their peers and are at risk of dropping out of high school.

•HIPPY Home Visitors pay weekly visits to parents in their own homes and use role play to teach the week’s activities which are based on children’s literature.

• Mothers teach their children the 5 days of activities of the pre-reading, pre-writing, and pre-math skills they need for success in Kindergarten and beyond.

• At each visit, Home Visitor reviews work and use role play to teach the following week’s curriculum

•Bi-weekly Group Meetings offer speakers on parenting topics, a peer group for parents and a preschool experience for their children.

Providing qualified families with knowledge, materials, and instruction to prepare their pre-school children for success in school and in life.
