because everything starts with a seed.....
With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, a quiet time together will be a welcome change of pace. “The Mitten” by Jan Brett has beautiful illustrations to accompany the story.
Listen to it here:
The Mitten reinforces one of the skills we have been discussing – predicting. The border on each page gives clues as to what will happen when you turn the page..... Be sure to point out the clues and ask your child to predict what you will find on the next page. Share the delight when guesses are proved correct. After you have listened to the story, develop fine motor skills by making and decorating mittens out of paper or cardboard. Draw an outlines of your child's hand and cut them out. Decorate and discuss size, colours, matching and which animals will fit!
