Children need opportunities to practice dealing with their emotions. They try out new strategies and ideas and find out which ones work!
Here are three ways you can help:
Play ball! Rolling a ball between you and a very young child builds your relationship and is the beginning of taking turns. Later add names to add to the anticipation.
Dress up - no need for elaborate costumes! Your old clothes and funny hats will do the trick. Play shop, cook yummy meals with toys for ingredients and then enjoy eating them together.
Puppets - make sock puppets and retell stories or make up new ones. Language skills and art..
