5 ways to help your child start school




1. Adjust bedtime Make bedtime a little earlier each night so that by the time your child starts school, bedtime is at the correct time for your family. 2. The night before Start the routine of laying out clothes for the following day to allow for discussion and child's wishes 3. Practice the morning routine School won't be so strange and you will understand how long it will take to get ready!

4. Shop for lunch items together Agree on favourite foods to include - can your child help you pack the lunchbox? 5. Reduce anxiety by discussing your child's expectations of school. Can you visit the school and play in the playground together? Talk about school expectations and routines. Validate anxiety by showing you understand it. "I know you would rather stay home, but you really have to go. How can we get through this?
